According to the New York Times, Broadway producer Hugh Hysell and actress Catherine Russell have just signed a 10-year lease for a building on Eighth Avenue and 39th Street that will offer more space for off Broadway works. The space (601 Eighth Avenue), which will be called the Theater Center, will include three theatres holding 99, 199, and 249 seats each.

Hysell told NYT: "General managers consistently tell us that the West Side of Manhattan in Midtown is where every producer wants to be, but there are too few venues. There are also limited places with these numbers of seats, and very few spaces that can do 249 seats."

The venue will additionally include a restaurant and bar on the ground floor. The Theater Center will open in 2014.
