
Sebastian Arcelus will join the Broadway cast of Jersey Boys, the Tony Award winning Best
Musical, in the role of Bob Gaudio on Thursday, January 10. Daniel Reichard,
who originated the role at La Jolla Playhouse and on Broadway, will play his
final performance on Wednesday, January 9, 2008.
Arcelus will play opposite Tony Award winner Christian Hoff
(Tommy DeVito), J. Robert Spencer (Nick Massi) and Michael Longoria (Frankie
Valli).
"Jersey Boys is
the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons – Frankie Valli, Bob Gaudio,
Tommy DeVito and Nick Massi, and how this group of blue-collar boys from the
wrong side of the tracks became one of the biggest American pop music
sensations of all time. They wrote their own songs, invented their own sound
and sold 175 million records worldwide – all before they were 30," explain
press notes.
In addition to Hoff, Reichard, Spencer and Longoria, the
current Broadway cast features Peter Gregus and Mark Lotito; with Travis Cloer,
Kris Coleman, Colin Donnell, Ken Dow, Heather Ferguson, Steve Gibb, Cory Grant,
Donnie Kehr, John Leone, Jennifer Naimo, Dominic Nolfi, Erica Piccininni, Sara
Schmidt, and eric schneider.
Jersey Boys is
directed by two-time Tony Award winner Des McAnuff. The musical, which won a total of four Tony
Awards and continues to set new weekly box office records at the August Wilson
Theatre on Broadway, is written by Academy Award winner Marshall Brickman and
Rick Elice, with music by Bob Gaudio, lyrics by Bob Crewe and choreography by
Sergio Trujillo.
Jersey Boys opened
at the August Wilson
Theatre on Broadway to critical
acclaim on November 6, 2005 and continues to set new weekly box office records,
remaining among the five top grossing shows in New York. The show is now playing in Chicago, San Francisco and
other cities across the U.S.
on a National Tour. Upcoming productions include London,
Las Vegas and Toronto.
