According to author Linda Randall Porter, puppies have an active imagination, like children; their games help them learn; they deserve a reward, and have cute little antics, very much like the young ones. Inspired by her fascination of dogs and her excitement of having a grandson, Porter authors and illustrates a story of a valiant dog in her book "Ryan the Redbone".

Ryan the Redbone is a lanky little puppy who dreams he's all grown up. Being eager to become a dog, he sees himself doing heroic acts to protect his family and yard. As the story progresses, readers will join Ryan as he chases a thief, a lion and a bad man - turning out to be a squirrel, some cats and an old shoe - in order to secure his yard and stand guard.

Aiming to encourage imagination and learning, Porter writes her story in rhyme, the words telling what Ryan is thinking. However, via the colorful illustrations by the author, readers will see what is really happening. Being a constant learner and highly imaginative, Porter tells a humorous story that will entertain and enlighten readers, both children and adult, and make them appreciate how a puppy feels and plays.

"Ryan the Redbone" is a closer look at a puppy's antics, his fulfillment and his dreams; maybe these are some of your dog's as well. This book aims to be an avenue to happier and more memorable bonding moments of parents and their children.

"Ryan the Redbone" will be featured at the 2014 Texas Library Association Book Exhibit in San Antonio, TX, today, April 8 - 11, 2014.
