The award-winning York Theatre Company (James Morgan, Producing Artistic Director) announces further casting of an upcoming weekend of concert performances of the new musical, The Times. This extremely limited engagement of five performances will be presented as part of the York's New2NY series (which stages new musical works in concert style with "book-in-hand" and minimal props and costumes) from January 15th through January 17th, 2010.

Jordan Leeds (Sunset Boulevard, original cast I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change) will be appearing as Ted, opposite the previously announced Julia Murney (Wicked, MTC's The Wild Party) as Liz. Also joining the cast are Heather Ayers (Young Frankenstein), Sarah Jane Everman (Shrek, The Apple Tree), Mary GorDon Murray (Into the Woods, Footloose), Bill Nolte (The Producers, Amour), Robb Sapp (Shrek; Enter Laughing, The Musical) and Jim Stanek (Little Women, Lestat). Philip Wm. McKinley (The Boy From Oz, The Most Happy Fella) will direct. Composer Brad Ross music directs.

The Times is a bittersweet comedy charting the course of a marriage through good times, bad times and The New York Times. Liz, an actress, and Ted, a writer, begin their New York love story in 1973 and see their relationship evolve over the course of 17 years through the eyes of their friends and rest of the world--with the help of a familiar newspaper that brings the stories of their lives together. The Times features book and lyrics by Kleban Award winner Joe Keenan ("Frasier," "Desperate Housewives") and music by Brad Ross (Little by Little).

Performances for the show are as follows: Friday, January 15th at 8 PM, Saturday, January 16th at 2:30 and 8 PM, and Sunday, January 17th at 2:30 and 7:30 PM. Tickets are priced at $37.50 and available at the York Theatre Box Office (open Monday through Friday from Noon to 6 PM), by phone at 212-935-5820 or online at www.yorktheatre.org.

The York Theatre Company was nominated for five 2009 Drama Desk Awards, four Lucille Lortel Awards, two Outer Critics Circle Awards and two Drama League Awards for its productions of Enter Laughing, The Musical and My Vaudeville Man! last season. York Theatre Company is one of the only companies in the city committed to developing and producing new Musical Theatre Works and rediscovering musical gems from the past. Winner of a special Drama Desk Award for developing and producing new musical theatre, York's intimate, imaginative style of producing both original and classic musicals has resulted in critical acclaim and recognition from artists and audiences alike for almost four decades. Under the guidance of Artistic Director James Morgan since 1997, the York has focused exclusively on new musicals in its Mainstage Series-most of them world, American or New York premieres-by some of the field's most esteemed creators and has also helped launch the careers of many talented new writers.
