New York University's Tisch School of the Arts (TSOA) honored three of its most distinguished graduates, as well as paid tribute to two distinguished members of the Broadway theatre community, at its annual Gala Benefit on Monday, December 4, 2006 at Broadway's St. James Theatre (246 West 44th Street). Hosted by Billy Crystal '70, the evening honored TSOA alumni Felicity Huffman '88, Tony Kushner '84, and George C. Wolfe '84 for their achievements in the performing arts. Gerald Schoenfeld, Chairman of The Shubert Organization, and Floria Lasky, President of The Frederick Loewe Foundation, were also saluted for their generosity and contributions to Broadway and the American Theatre.

Entitled "Tisch on Broadway," the gala celebration was directed by Artie Masella with musical direction by Seth Rudetsky.  Other celebrated alumni who appeared were: Kevin Cahoon, Billy Crudup, Jenn Gambatese, Jordan Gelber, Marcia Gay Harden, Steve Kazee, John Lavelle, Michael Longoria, Jesse L. Martin, Matthew Morrison, Jennifer Naimo, Matthew Salidivar, Abigail Rose Solomon, and Victor Williams, among others. "

"From a small theatre conservatory program in 1965, the Tisch School of the Arts has evolved into three dynamic institutes offering undergraduate and graduate degree programs at the bachelor, master and doctoral level across fourteen disciplines. Its 3,000 undergraduates and 700 graduate students come from every state and many foreign countries, and its faculty members have won virtually every prize awarded in the arts, including Tonys, Oscars, Bessies, and Grammies," stated press materials.

After his life as an ingenue in Brooklyn & Queens, Walter spent the next 25 Years in a leading role as a Photographer / Photo Researcher in Manhattan. He is currently headlining in New Jersey with his partner Richard and children Dali & Gala. As a 14 year old youth, Walter was transfixed by his first Broadway Show, the original production of "GREASE". His journey on the path to celebrity photojournalism began that fateful night. Meeting, photographing and getting to know the cast inspired him to spend his professional life doing what he loved. Broadway introduced him to his two homes...
