A private industry reading of Whorl Inside A Loop by Dick Scanlan and Sherie Rene Scott will be held on April 29, it was announced today. MAD MEN's Emmy-nominated star Christina Hendricks will lead the reading, which is being presented in advance of an anticipated Broadway run, according to producers.

Co-Directed by Michael Mayer and Dick Scanlan, the play explores the fine line between convicted felons and the criminal inside each of us, the viability of forgiveness, the unreliability of redemption, and the precarious nature of justice.

Inspired by real-life experiences, the play follows a celebrity actress into a men's maximum security prison during her community service. Unexpectedly, she forms a close bond with the incarcerated men and through teaching them theatre, gives them a voice to express themselves and their powerful stories.

Additional material is by Andre Kelley, Marvin Lewis, Felix Machado, Richard Norat, and Jeffrey Rivera.

Six-time Emmy-Nominated and SAG Award-Winning Mad Men star Hendricks will appear opposite Derrick Baskin (Memphis), Nicholas Christopher (Motown), Tyrone Davis, Jr. (Shrek), Ryan Quinn (Hamlet), Daniel J. Watts (Hamilton), and Donald Webber, Jr. (Holler If Ya Hear Me).

Whorl Inside A Loop premiered at Second Stage Theatre where the play received high critical-acclaim during an extended, sold-out run in late 2015. The production was hailed by the New York Times as "Riveting theater! A funny and moving new play."

The reading is led by producing company WalkRunFly, co-founded by Warren Adams and Brandon Victor Dixon. Jennifer Isaacson serves as the company's Executive Producer.
