UK fans of beloved family-friendly Golden Age musical THE SOUND OF MUSIC may see an all-new British edition of the recent NBC mega-hit live telecast of the Rodgers & Hammerstein classic next year according to a new report.

Plans are currently underway to produce a live TV edition of the musical set to be broadcast next year, staging it in one of the many reputable movie studios in the UK such as Pinewood or Elstree Studios.

Additionally, producers plan to utilize a live orchestra for the performance, as well.

Of note, NBC's 2013 presentation of THE SOUND OF MUSIC: LIVE! starring Carrie Underwood received roughly 20 million live viewers, with several million more viewing it in a repeat broadcast and in DVR viewings, making it a runaway ratings hit.

So, will ITV's live TV production of THE SOUND OF MUSIC match the success of NBC's edition last year? If all goes as currently planned, tune in sometime in Spring 2015 to see!
