Author Gretchen BeDen Gregory brings forward "Thirty Short, Short Stories" (published by AuthorHouse), a collection of her own stories she published for posterity. Covering many diverse subjects, Gregory touches on a variety of emotions, and she even has a few surprises in store, such as in "The Masterpiece." It begins:

"He would paint a masterpiece. The thought had come to him quite suddenly and, as the excitement grew in his being, he knew he couldn't put it off. The vision was there in his mind. He saw the lady often and, truely, she was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen."

But it ends:

"'I made you a picture.' he said.
She took it from him, studying it.
'Why, honey, it's a picture of me. That's my green dress that I wore to church last Sunday.'
Bending down, she kissed her little artist. Smiling, she said, 'Ronnie, it's beautiful,'
'Just like you, mommy.'"
