Writers, ghostwriters, editors, and industry experts will convene at Ghostwriters Unite at the Hilton Hotel in Long Beach, California on May 3, 4, 5, 2013 to discuss critical issues impacting today's most in-demand, yet least-validated freelance writers: the historically invisible scribes behind such famous authors as Alexander Dumas, Ben Franklin, Hillary Clinton, and James Patterson as well as scores of today's novelists, memoir writers and "expert" authors. The conference is open to all established and aspiring freelance writers, editors, and ghostwriters. Admission is $285. Early Bird conference ($235) and lodging ($119/night) discounts expire April 1 st. The Saturday night banquet dinner is $50 while seating lasts. Registration is available at http://ghostwritersunite.com or by calling 1-800-641-3936.

In contrast to typical writers' conferences that focus on plot/character development, agent pitch sessions, manuscript reviews, self-publishing options, and other authors' issues, Ghostwriters Unite will focus on freelancer career development, contract do's and don'ts, finding clients, establishing fee standards, and handling byline and ethical vs. legal considerations. Other panel topics include "Agents and Publishers who Hire Ghostwriters," "Ghosting for Celebrities," "Negotiating Techniques," and "Guiding Clients thru the Publishing Labyrinth." The current faculty roster includes ghostwriting expert Eva Shaw, celebrity-ghost David Ritz, Gotham Ghostwriters owner Dan Gerstein, England's most-famous ghost Tony Horne, Australia's leading ghost Libby Harkness, top literary attorneys Jonathan Kirsch and Chuck Hurewitz, and award-winning book publicist Devon Blaine, among others.

Ghostwriters Unite opens with a Friday night mixer where aspiring freelancers can mingle with experienced and certified ghostwriters and book-industry experts. Saturday features 12 distinct panel discussions plus selected author readings, a Certified Ghostwriters Q&A, a limited-space banquet dinner, and keynote speakers at the lunch break and the banquet. The conference wraps up Sunday with a multi-expert "State of the Industry" discussion. All meals except Saturday's dinner are included in the conference price.
