Oscar-nominated American actress Diane Lane returns to Broadway this fall in the role of "Ranevskaya" in Roundabout Theatre Company's limited engagement of The Cherry Orchard. It's a full circle moment for the award-winning actress, who made her Broadway debut as a child in the 1977 revival of the Anton Chekov masterpiece.

In the almost 40-year gap between the two stage appearances, Lane's career has included Broadway runs in the 1978 musical RUNAWAYS and the 1977 revival of AGAMEMNON, as well as a host of successful feature films. Today BWW takes a look at the prolific career of Diane Lane!


Lane made her screen debut in George Roy Hill's 1979 film A Little Romance, starring opposite Sir Laurence Olivier. Soon after, she was featured on the cover of Time magazine and dubbed "the new Grace Kelly". Watch the trailer from the film below:


She has since appeared in several notable films including 2002's Unfaithful, which earned her Academy Award, Golden Globe, and Screen Actors Guild Award nominations for Best Actress. Watch a clip from the steamy film below:


Following Unfaithful, Lane starred in Under the Tuscan Sun, a film based on the best-selling book by Frances Mayes for which Lane won a further Best Actress Golden Globe nomination. Watch the film's official trailer below:


In 2010, Lane starred in Secretariat, a Disney film about the relationship between the 1973 Triple Crown-winning racehorse and his owner, Penny Chenery, whom Lane portrayed. Watch her performance below:
