Comic stars Gregor Fisher, Eddie Izzard and John Sessions will be wetting their whistle in the upcoming film reboot of WHISKY GALORE!

According to the Daily Mail, Iain Maclean is producing the project after picking up the rights ten years ago. "It takes ten years," he told the Mail. "Like a good malt."

Gillies MacKinnon is directing from a script by Peter McDougall, based on Compton MacKenzie's "tale about how locals 'rescue' 50,000 cases of Scotch from a ship that has hit the rocks." The original hit theaters in 1949 as a post-war pick-me-up.

Also in the cast are Fenella Woolgar, Tim Piggott-Smith, Sean Biggerstaff, Naomi Battrick, Kevin Guthrie, Iain Robertson and James Cosmo.

Fisher is well known for his role as 'Rab' in the comedy series RAB C. NESBITT. He has starred on the big screen in LOVE ACTUALLY, LASSIE and WILD TARGET.

Izzard last starred on Broadway in RACE and before that, A DAY IN THE DEATH OF JOE EGG. He has appeared onstage in London in TRUMBO, LENNY, EDWARD II, 900 ONEONTA and THE CRYPTOGRAM. Izzard has a long-running stand-up career, with comedy recordings including FORCE MAJEURE, LIVE AT MADISON SQUARE GARDEN, STRIPPED and more. He has starred on TV in HANNIBAL, THE GOOD WIFE, UNITED STATES OF TARA, THE RICHES and more. Among his recent film credits are the upcoming ABSOLUTELY ANYTHING, as well as BOYCHOIR and ACROSS THE UNIVERSE.

Sessions is known for his comedy improv in TV shows such as WHOSE LINE IS IT ANYWAY? and his own series JOHN SESSIONS, filmed at the Donmar Warehouse in London. The actor also starred in the one-man show NAPOLEON, which hit the West End in the '80s. He took the stage in the new play LONGING in 2013. Sessions has also appeared in several of Kenneth Branagh's Shakespeare films, including HENRY V, A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM and THE MERCHANT OF VENICE. His more recent film credits include THE IRON LADY and MADE IN DAGENHAM.
