Maestro Alan Yamamoto, formerly with the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra, is bringing together two established, contemporary groups in the metro area - the Bechtler Ensemble and the Out of Bounds Ensemble - to create the Charlotte Composers Forum. The "new" group is scheduled to perform for audiences at Winthrop University on Oct. 20 and the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art on Oct. 27.

Created to bring local composers' music to more audiences in the Charlotte region, the Charlotte Composers Forum will feature works by Ronald Keith Parks, Craig Bove, John Allemeier and Maestro Yamamoto.

All of the works will be performed jointly by the Bechtler Ensemble and the Out of Bounds Ensemble. In addition, both concerts will feature a number of Charlotte area musicians, including solos by local vocalists Rebecca Cook-Carter and Virginia Gutierrez.

The upcoming concerts mark the first time the two ensembles have joined forces for a performance. Support for this project is provided by the Arts Council of York County Small Grants Program, the John and Susan Bennett Memorial Arts Fund of the Costal Community Foundation of SC and the S.C. Arts Commission, which received funding from the National Endowment for the Arts. Additional funding for the Charlotte Composers Forum comes from Winthrop University's Department of Music, the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art, Central Piedmont Community College and Wells Fargo.
