West End 'Wicked' Wins People's Choice 'Favourite Musical'

The smash hit musical Wicked, at London's Apollo Victoria Theatre, has just won two People's Choice Awards, including "Favourite Musical of 2007," voted by customers of the UK's largest independent ticket retailer www.lastminute.com.

Wicked resoundingly won the People's Choice Award for "Favourite Musical" with 21.59% of the total vote (beating the TV reality-cast shows Joseph, The Sound of Music and Grease). Wicked also won "Favourite Theatre Moment of 2007" (for the song "Defying Gravity") and the Apollo Victoria Theatre, home to the hit musical, was voted "Favourite Venue." 

The annual People's Choice Awards are now in their fifth year and over 16,000 people voted.

Earlier this year, Wicked was named the "Best New Musical of 2007" at the Theatregoers' Choice Awards. The musical won a total of 4 awards, more than any other show, as voted by members of the theatre-going public.
