Theatr Clwyd Announce Recipients Of Roundabout Writer In Residence Scheme The Artistic and Executive Directors of Theatr Clwyd, Tamara Harvey and Liam Evans-Ford today announce Melangell Dolma, Mari Izzard and Carri Munn as the recipients of the Roundabout Writer in Residence Scheme in collaboration with Paines Plough. Each writer will develop a 10-minute script that will be performed in the Roundabout when the Season opens at Theatr Clwyd in June.

The residency begins with 3 days in London as rehearsals for the Roundabout Season commence, with the writers meeting The Acting Company, creative team and writers, and experiencing the first days of work on the new scripts.

The writers will then be invited to Theatr Clwyd to observe rehearsals in the Roundabout itself and have time in the main building to start script development in a supportive environment, surrounded by other creatives. The residency concludes with the writers having time to work with a Welsh director and 3 actors, further developing and rehearsing their scripts, finishing with a performance of the new plays in the Roundabout on Saturday 30 June.

Melangell Dolma is an actor and writer from Snowdonia. She has performed with companies such as Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru, Lucid Theatre, Frân Wen, Dirty Protest and Not Too Tame, as well as many TV series for S4C. As a writer, she took part in the Young Artists Festival at The Other Room in 2017. Her short play, Insufficient Postage - which she developed during the festival - was chosen to be shown at their scratch night, SEEN. Recently she contributed a piece, Nephews, to 100 Voices for 100 Years, a project which celebrates narratives written by women, about women.

Melangell said today "I am very grateful and excited to get to work with Theatr Clwyd and Paines Plough at the start of my career as a writer and can't wait to learn as much as I can during the residency".

Mari Izzard returns to Theatr Clwyd where her credits include Skyhawk. Further credits include Pride and Prejudice (Regent's Park Open Air Theatre), A Midsummer Night's Dream (RSC), Mametz (National Theatre Wales) and Twelfth Night (Riverfront Theatre). She has also had one of her plays shortlisted for the Violet Burns Award with The Other Room, Cardiff.

Izzard said today "The writer in residency position will give me the opportunity to develop my voice further as a writer and to learn from incredible teachers at Theatr Clwyd and Paines Plough."

Carri Munn is a writer, director and stand-up comedian. Her show, Cardiff Minger Of The World played to sell-out audiences in Chapter Theatre. She has worked with a broad range of companies and artists including National Theatre Wales, The Torch Theatre, Contact Theatre Manchester, Hatfair Festival Winchester, and is an associate artist of La La La Productions. As a writer, she has written extensively and won the Sherman Theatre's ScriptSlam at the National Eisteddfod.

Munn said today "I am absolutely delighted to be part of this Writer in Residence scheme. For me, it means time and space to develop a script in a supportive and creative setting, and this scheme is the ideal environment to committing to realising a vision of a script - my first in the Welsh language."
