LEGALLY BLONDE Premieres At The Savoy In UK, Previews Begin 12/5

Legally Blonde is officially coming to London and scheduled to start previews on 12/5 at the Savoy Theater. The initial booking has it running through May 23, 2010.

The musical originally premiered on Broadway in April 2007. The West End Elle is expected to be played by Sheridan Smith whose last musical role was in Little Shop of Horrors. The rest of the cast has not been announced but there have been rumors that Duncan James and Alex Gaumond may be in the running.

Sorority star Elle Woods doesn't take "no" for an answer. So when her boyfriend dumps her for someone "serious," Elle puts down the credit card, hits the books, and sets out to go where no Delta Nu has gone before: Harvard Law. Along the way, Elle proves that being true to yourself never goes out of style.

LEGALLY BLONDE The Musical has been created by a dean's list of top-of-their-class Broadway talent, including Tony Award-winning director/choreographer Jerry Mitchell (Hairspray); composer and lyricist Laurence O'Keefe (Batboy) and Nell Benjamin (Sarah, Plain and Tall); book writer Heather Hach (Freaky Friday); and scenic designer David Rockwell (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels).

LEGALLY BLONDE The Musical will take you from the sorority house to the halls of justice with Broadway's brightest new heroine (and of course, her chihuahua, Bruiser). The verdict? This much fun shouldn't be legal!

According to Whatsonstage.com "The London production was originally rumoured to open in late 2008 at the Piccadilly Theatre, but the revival of Grease, which moved in there in August 2007, has extended several times and is now booking through to October with Ray Quinn taking over as Danny. The current production at the Savoy, Lindsay Posner's revival of Carousel starring Lesley Garrett, is booking until 25 July 2009."
