Suncoast AIDS Theatre Project Presents Reading of THE DIVINE SISTER Tonight

By: Jun. 20, 2011

Suncoast AIDS Theatre Project Presents Prelude to Pride- The Divine Sister: A Staged Reading of Charles Busch's hilarious new comedy on Monday, June 20, 7:30pm at the American Stage Theatre, 163 3rd St. North, downtown St. Petersburg.

There's no better way to prepare to celebrate St. Pete Pride than with Suncoast AIDS Theatre Project's Annual AIDS Benefit, Prelude To Pride; a staged reading of Charles Busch's hilarious, new comedy, THE DIVINE SISTER.
Charles Busch has put on a nun's habit in this gleefully twisted tale of the secret lives of nuns on a mission.

"My dear, we are living in a time of great social change," says the Mother Superior, portrayed by Matt McGee, "we must do everything in our power to stop it!" There's a bulging roster of Sisters with Secrets: Sister Acacius (Becca McCoy), the hearty Convent wrestling coach, Sister Walburga (Hersha Parady), a recent transplant from Berlin, and the fresh-faced postulant, Agnes (Betty Jane Parks) who encounter a rich atheist spinster, (Alison Burns) and a former lover turned reporter with a promiscuous past (Joey Panek).

This one night only performance will benefit PWA (People With AIDS) programs at Metropolitan Charities of Pinellas and Suncoast AIDS Theatre Project. Admission is Pay-What-You-Will and all performers are donating their time and talents.

Suncoast AIDS Theatre Project is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization whose mission is to raise awareness, provide assistance, and perpetuate a life of dignity for those affected and infected by HIV and AIDS.

THE DIVINE SISTER will perform one night only: Monday, June 20, 2011 at American Stage Theatre, 163 3rd St. N. St. Petersburg. Doors open at 7:00pm, curtain time is 7:30pm. Cash bar.
