Pianist Yoonie Han will make her Kennedy Center debut on November 2, 2011 at 7:30 p.m., performing Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 4 with the Avanti Orchestra. Presented by the Friday Morning Music Club (FMMC), the free concert is offered as part of Yoonie's award as the winner of the 2011 Washington International Competition. Praised for her "flowing tones, poetic phrasing, and heavenly singing melodies" (Cincinnati Enquirer), the South Korean pianist is quickly earning a reputation as a rising star in the classical music world. Just 26 years old, Yoonie Han has already made her Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall debuts, and performed with leading orchestras around the world. In 2011, she made debuts at Merkin Hall (New York), Boston University's Tanglewood Institute (Lenox, Ma.), and the Bergamo Festival (Italy). Upcoming engagements include her debut with the Berlin Symphony. As a result of her first-prize award in the 2011 Fulbright Concerto Competition, Yoonie will embark upon a U.S. and European recital tour, performing at Steinway & Sons' locations in New York, Los Angeles, Miami, London, Berlin, Hamburg and Munich. She has taken top awards at important international competitions, including the World Piano Competition, among many others.
