Crash of Rhinos Presents Staged Reading of CARVED IN STONE…A COMEDY OF TERRORS Today

By:

Crash of Rhinos, an endangered little theater company, announced today that, as part of the Kennedy Center's 2014 Page To Stage Festival, it would hold a staged reading of "Carved in Stone ... A Comedy of Terrors," a new play by Mario Baldessari. The reading is scheduled to take place at noon on Saturday, August 30, in the Terrace Gallery. Tom Prewitt, the Artistic Director of WSC Avant Bard, will direct.

"Carved in Stone" is the story of a Christian fundamentalist truck driver who - frustrated when his amateur sculpture of the 10 Commandments is removed from public property - experiments with Jewish mysticism to continue his fight against the "War on Christianity." The otherworldly golem he creates destroys the tranquility of two small Wyoming towns and then his own marriage, when it unearths a family tragedy better left buried.

The reading features Caren Anton, Sherry Berg, Jim Brady, Ray Ficca, Stan Kang and Elizabeth Kitsos-Kang.

Admission to all readings at the festival is free and open to the public. (Parking in the Kennedy Center garage, however, is not free.) Doors typically open approximately 30 minutes before each festival reading; seating is on a first-come-first-served basis and may be limited. More information on the festival is available here: http://www.kennedy-center.org/events/?event=XOPPS.

Crash of Rhinos is the new theater company in residence at the Conservatory - following in the footsteps of such previous companies as Rorschach Theater and Charter Theater. (Whether or not it survives the year is anyone's guess.)
