Fifteen-year-old classical crossover artist Jackie Evancho - who first drew national attention on America's Got Talent, and has since put out multiple albums and has performed worldwide - will make her Music Center at Strathmore debut tonight, October 10. In advance of the concert, entitled "Awakening," Ms. Evancho graciously answered a few questions from BroadwayWorld.Com about tonight's concert in North Bethesda, her musical influences, the way she feels about performing/singing, and more.

Here's the exchange:

Although you've played the Washington, DC and Baltimore area several times before, you'll be making your concert debut at the Music Center at Strathmore. What might fans expect if they attend the upcoming concert?

They can expect favorite songs from all of my albums except the Christmas ones right now. It's a little early to start singing Christmas music.

What kind of songs will you be featuring?

There will be the classical crossover songs and some pop songs that I do in my style.

You started performing at a very young age at the national and international level. Tell us what got you first interested in performing/singing.

I started singing after I saw the movie The Phantom of The Opera. I fell in love with that music and began singing all over the house.

How would you describe what kind of artist you are and how has this shifted as you've grown older?

I'm a classical crossover singer. As I get older I like to try and put my singing style to some pop songs that I feel will work with my voice.

Who are some of your musical influences?

There are the obvious ones like Andrea Bocelli and Sarah Brightman, but also people like Lana Del Ray. I'm inspired by beautiful voices.

What kind of music do you enjoy performing the most?

I don't have a favorite kind of music. If the song moves me then it doesn't matter what style it is.

You've featured several numbers from musicals on your albums, including "Think of Me" from The Phantom of the Opera on your latest album. What attracts you to the idea of singing song from musicals and would you ever consider an opportunity to perform in one (whether on Broadway etc.)?

Phantom is the movie that stirred my passion for singing. At some point I would love to play Christine.

After your concert at Strathmore, what's next for you?

I'm working on new music and I continue to tour. I should have a new album out sometime next year.

Jackie Evancho will perform at the Music Center at Strathmore - 10701 Rockville Pike in North Bethesda, Maryland - at 8:00 PM on Saturday, October 10. For tickets, call the box office at 301-581-5100 or purchase them online.
