Andres Manta Set To Perform ANDEAN MOUNTAINS AT The Alden Theatre On 4/26

By:

The beautiful sounds of  the traditional folk music of the Andean Mountains will be performed by the group Andes Manta at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 26, in the Alden Theatre. Tickets are $14, $10 for McLean district residents. The performance, part of the Alden’s McLean Kids Performance Series, will be followed by a Panpipe Workshop with the artists at 4:30 p.m. The workshop, for children ages six and older, is $10 per person. The theatre is located at 1234 Ingleside Avenue.

Andes Manta performs the vibrant folk music of the Andes on more than 35 traditional instruments. From the lyrical sound of the quena (the Andean Flute), to the haunting tones of the six-foot-long panpipes, the music of Andes Manta is an experience that brings audiences to their feet.

The four Lopez brothers who make up the group, Fernando, Luis, Bolivar and Jorge, bring a unique art form to North America in its purest and most authentic form. Natives of the Ecuadorian Andes, the brothers learned their traditional folk music as it has been learned for thousands of years—passed from father to son, and brother to brother. The musicians believe that through their music they provide a rare opportunity for cultural understanding between the people of their homeland of South America and the people of modern North America.
