2010 International VSA Festival to Feature THE THING THAT ATE MY BRAIN... 6/9
As part of the 2010 International VSA Festival, Theater Alliance will host Perishable Theatre Of Rhode Island for THE THING THAT ATE MY BRAIN...ALMOST, written and performed by Amy Lynn Budd. This play will be performed for one night only at the H Street Playhouse, 1365 H Street, NE, Washington DC on June 9 at 7:30pm.
A neo-burlesque comedy, this play examines Ms. Budd's relationships with her largest brain tumor, her loved ones, and the world of medicine. In this performance about the diagnosis of and subsequent living with a chronic genetic condition, Von Hippel-Lindau Syndrome (VHL), the artist combines performing art forms to affirm that creativity and curiosity are the best medicine. Molly Lederer of the Providence Monthly says, "A unique production with universal appeal, The Thing That Ate My Brain...Almost is one wild ride that everyone should take".
The Thing That Ate My Brain...Almost is a project of the Resident Artists at Perishable Theatre (RAPT) program, which supports hybrid performance projects over one to three years. It is being presented with critical support from VSA Rhode Island, the 2010 International VSA Festival, Theater Alliance, the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts, iolabs, and the Independence Square Foundation.
