TAPESTRY INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL To Unite 130 Singers From Across North America
La Caccina, Peninsula Women's Chorus, and The Aeolian Singers join Elektra at Christ Church Cathedral.
130 singers from across North America will join forces in Vancouver this May for Elektra's Tapestry International Festival, culminating in a massed-choir finale at Christ Church Cathedral on May 9 at 7pm.
Bringing together four leading adult treble choirs—Elektra (Vancouver), La Caccina (Chicago), Peninsula Women's Chorus (California), and The Aeolian Singers (Halifax)—the festival offers a rare opportunity to experience both the distinct artistry of each ensemble and the power of their combined sound.
The May 9 Tapestry Celebration Concert will feature a compelling shared program reflecting themes of resilience, nature, and collective voice, including works by Sherryl Sewepagaham, Stephanie Martin, Joan Szymko, and Rosephanye Powell. The concert culminates in a massed-choir performance uniting all singers in a single, resonant musical statement.
The festival opens the previous evening with Choral Threads on May 8 at 7:30pm at Pacific Spirit United Church, a free with RSVP concert offering an intimate introduction to each visiting ensemble.
Tapestry International Festival reflects Elektra's ongoing commitment to artistic collaboration, the development of new choral repertoire, and the amplification of diverse voices within the choral community.
