WARNINGS Two Ghost Stories Closes at St Pancras Church Crypt, 3/13

By:

Warnings is the extraordinary, site specific promenade experience of two of M.R James' most spine-chilling ghost stories. Directed by Nick Blackburn, Warnings will feature readings of A Warning to the Curious and Count Magnus in the atmospheric space of the crypt at St Pancras Church. The readings will be performed from February 16 to March 13.

Originally written as stories to be read aloud, the labyrinthine network of interconnecting corridors will ensure a real sense of unease and foreboding as the stories weave through the rooms with unexpected twists to terrify and excite in the malevolent darkness, where curiosity might just get the better of you. Directed by Nick Blackburn. Designed by Lucy Minyo with lighting by Adam Young and sound design by Tom Hackley

Montague Rhodes James is widely regarded as one of the great masters of the ghost story and his books are acknowledged as some of the finest in English literature. He transformed the ghost from an ethereal anodyne figure into an all too palpaple force of evil. James' ghost stories were published in a series of collections; Ghost Stories of an Antiquary (1904), More Ghost Stories (1911), A Thin Ghost and Others (1919) and A Warning to the Curious and Other Ghost Stories (1925). There have been numerous television adaptations of his work, including the highly acclaimed Whistle and I'll Come to You directed by Jonathan Miller.

A Warning to the Curious and Count Magnus magnificently capture James' menacing sense of danger and the unknown, where warnings are not heeded leading to gruesome and terrifying consequences.

Audience members will be allowed the freedom to wander through the maze of spaces in order to follow the narrative thread where they will encounter chance meetings, other worldly images and a few surprises

St Pancras Church Crypt is located at Euston Road in London, NW1 2BA. Access via car park at the rear of church on Duke's Road
