Underbelly Productions Presents WUNDERKAMMER at the Edinburgh Festival This Summer

By:

Underbelly has revealed that after a two year absence, the moo-gestic McEwan Hall will be returning to the Pasture for the this years Edinburgh Festival Fringe. At 5pm each day, Australian circus company Circa take to the stage and the air, with their critically acclaimed show Wunderkammer.

Wunderkammer is an exquisite cabaret of the senses, in which a diva melts into a rope, balloons and bubble wrap discover their artistic souls and bodies twist and fly. Seven performers of exceptional ability bend the very fabric of reality. Control and abandon, skill and humour, lyricism and anarchy all meld into a sinuous fugue of beauty.

Circa is world-renowned for creating startling new ways to experience circus. Combining seemingly impossible physical feats with a poetic sensibility, the company has gained an international reputation for being at the very cutting edge of its art form.

Circa Artistic Director Yaron Lifschitz said, "Circa is thrilled to be returning to the Fringe after four years with Wunderkammer - a complex feast for the senses - full of humour, emotion, seduction and great skills. The word Wunderkammer means cabinet of wonders and in this show we have aimed to create a contemporary place full of rare and amazing things. Like all of Circa's shows, Wunderkammer takes you beyond circus skills and new vaudeville/burlesque and ultimately infuses us with a strong sense of our own humanity."

Underbelly Co-Director Ed Bartlam says 'We're hugely excited to bring CIRCA back to Edinburgh, doubly so with a show like Wunderkammer - it's an extrodinary piece that we think will thrill festival audiences.'

Since 2006 Circa has toured 25 countries across five continents. The company made their Fringe debut in 2009 with the critically acclaimed show CIRCA, which later transfered to London for a season at the Barbican Centre.
