The Rose Theatre has a variety of children's show on offer this summer. The extraordinary adventures of a very ordinary Mr Benn will take to the stage in May, The Gruffalo's Child will step foot in the deep dark wood in June and the musical adaptation of David Walliam's smelly Mr Stink will play at the Rose in July.

Wednesday 18 - Saturday 21 May
Mr Benn

Mr Benn, an ordinary man, lives on an ordinary street, and makes the same ordinary journey every day to his ordinary office. Until one day Mr Benn receives an extraordinary invitation.

Mr Benn's world is turned upside down when he stumbles across a small dusty shop overflowing with costumes. As if by magic, the shopkeeper appears and shows Mr Benn into a changing room. But this is no ordinary changing room - it contains a special door that leads to adventures....Will Mr Benn ever be ordinary again?

Tall Stories, creators of The Gruffalo and Room on the Broom stage shows, present a brand new magical, musical production in celebration of the 40th anniversary of David McKee's much-loved television series.

The Gruffalo said that no Gruffalo should ever set foot in the deep dark wood...
From the creators of the The Gruffalo and following hot on the heels of the Gruffalo's sell out tour and his monstrous West End success comes The Gruffalo's Child - with attitude! Just how brave is she?

One wild and windy night the Gruffalo's child ignores her father's warning and tiptoes out into the snow. After all, the Big Bad Mouse doesn't really exist... does he?

Tall Stories Theatre Company bring Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler's award-winning sequel to life in this glorious magical, musical adaptation. All adults must be accompanied by a responsible child.

David Walliams, who's not in the show, really wants you to come and see it!

Chloe doesn't like school very much. She isn't as cool as the other kids. No iPhone, no DS and no friends. Then she meets Mr Stink - the local tramp. Yes, he smells a bit but he's the only person who's ever been nice to her and that includes her mother - an awful snob who wants to be the local MP and is trying to rid the streets of its homeless. About to lose her only friend, Chloe finds Mr Stink a secret hiding place...but is there more to him than meets the nose?
