Tall Stories bring Mr Benn to life in this year's Christmas show at Exeter Northcott and it looks set to be a another winner with old friends of Mr Benn and new adventurers alike... As if by magic, Mr Benn will be appearing at the theatre between Wednesday 11 December and Saturday 4 January.

One ordinary day, Mr Benn receives an invitation to a fancy dress party - and comes across an extraordinary shop. As if by magic, the shopkeeper appears with an array of costumes, and shows him into the dressing room.

Inside is a mysterious door that leads Mr Benn into incredible adventures, full of dragons, princesses and sea monsters... Will Mr Benn ever go back to his ordinary life?

Based on the much-loved TV series by David McKee, Tall Stories bring their unique style to the stage with catchy songs and astounding magic.

Mr Benn first captivated an audience over forty years ago when David McKee turned his series of picture books into an animated television series. Only 14 episodes were made back in the 1970s but for an entire generation, Mr Benn made an immediate impact, an impact the series' voiceover artist, Ray Brooks, didn't think possible.

"I don't think Dave McKee and I even had an inkling of how successful it would be. How could we?" he said.

"My voice is recognised all the time. We recorded the series over a couple of years. Every time he [McKee] completed an episode we were back recording in tiny studios, which are long gone now"

Mr Benn follows Tall Stories' 2012 Christmas production of The Snail and the Whale at Exeter Northcott Theatre.

700 young children, aged 4 to 7, will be taking part in this exciting and imaginative project. During the workshops the children will experience new ways of working with a range of quality paints, mixing colours, recycled materials, model making, scene creating, screen printing and much more. The art work will then be collaboratively exhibited at the Exeter Northcott Theatre in early December. creativeadventureswithmrbenn.wordpress.com
