Spoken Word Poet Suli Breaks In Theatrical Debut About PTSD In Young Soldiers In October 2018

Taz Skylar's exciting new drama #WARHEADS plays select dates in Tottenham and Peckham this October, starring world-renowned spoken word poet Suli Breaks in his theatrical debut. The show examines PTSD and the effects of war on young enlisting soldiers and features a diverse, multi-ethnic cast and crew.
Everyone's seen what PTSD can do to a forty year old Vietnam vet - but what about the 19-year-old who's already a lost cause thanks to his involvement in the war? Taz Skylar's new play sees two young soldiers struggle with their role in the army, alongside a voice from back home who sees their struggle, and the therapist trying to save them from themselves.
#WARHEADS stars performance poet Suli Breaks, who shot to fame when Will Smith shared a clip of him on Facebook, which garnered over 12 million views. He has since spoken at a TEDx event at the Houses of Parliament in 2014, and will be making his theatrical debut in #WARHEADS. His last show, Not A Role Model, sold out venues across the UK. Also making her theatre debut is Youtube and Facebook comedy sketch artist Jahannah James, who is best known for playing Penny, opposite Noel Clarke, in Brotherhood.
Writer, producer and performer Taz Skylar made his feature film debut in 2017 in The Kill Team, opposite Alexander Skarsgard, and has since appeared and had his work presented at Theatre Royal Stratford East, Southwark Playhouse and the Birmingham Rep. He has been shortlisted for the James Graham SKETCHING program at the Wiltons. Coming from a military family, Skylar has directly seen the effect war has had on his similar-aged friends. His last short, Multi-Facial, was in the of?cial selection at The Los Angeles cinefest, The New Renaissance Film festival, the Cannes Short Film Festival and won Best Male Actor at the Independent Shorts Awards and Best Indie Short at the LA Film Awards.
The cast also includes Jaz Hutchins (What Once Was Ours, Zest Theatre and Half Moon), and the show is directed by Toby Clarke (Sketty Theatre).
