Sixth Sense Theatre Now Accepting Applications for Youth Arts Showcase
Sixth Sense Theatre, with funding from Friends of the Swindon Arts Centre, are excited to be organising Swindon's first ever Youth Arts Showcase! The showcase will focus on youth talent in the local area and bring them together on the Arts Centre stage to celebrate the work Swindon's young people create.
In a two hour performance, Swindon's only professional theatre company will organise an evening of pieces created by a variety of different people, aged 9-30 years old, who wouldn't usually get the opportunity to perform. The acts brought together do not need to create new work especially for this event: performances from a current repertoire or work that is already being made in lessons or workshops can be submitted. Alongside this there will also be an exhibition of other artistic forms such as visual arts. It is often young people do not get to present their creative pieces to the masses - this is the perfect opportunity to show art lovers the raw artistic talent Swindon has to offer.
We are looking for people who write poetry, paint and play instruments. Singers, dancers, actors, artists. If you are talented in any type of art form, this is your chance to showcase your skills.
Tia Manning, Young Producer at Sixth Sense said, "I know a lot of young people whose talents never get to be seen. Being able to head up this project as a young person myself makes all the difference and I hope to give the spotlight to as many deserving people as possible."
Carli Green, Young Artist at Sixth Sense said, "Not often is it that local young people are able to show their talent to an audience unless the opportunity is given to them. That is exactly what we aim to do with the Youth Arts Showcase."
All applications should be submitted by the end of October the 1st.
If you are interested in taking part and showing your talents to a paying audience, please contact Tia Manning at tia@sixthsensetheatre.com or call 01793 614864 for more details. For more information about Sixth Sense visit www.sixthsensetheatre.com.
