Members of the internationally-renowned, award-winning Propeller Theatre Company today announced the Devon-based charity Lifeworks as the partner charity for their 38 week international tour of Henry V and The Winter's Tale.

While lesser companies might enjoy a cup of tea and a gossip at half time, Propeller actors traditionally entertain audiences during the interval with a cappella singing, followed by a charity collection. Last year they raised over £22,000 for charities including Save the Children, The Epilepsy Society and Prostate Cancer Care.

During the tour, the cast will also visit some of the children and young adults with learning disabilities with whom Lifeworks works to provide opportunities to lead full and active lives.

Propeller have performed in the intervals of their productions since the company started 15 years ago. The company's founding Artistic Director Edward Hall explained: "I wanted to turn our shows into a bit of an event, so we played music in the interval as well. We try to give the audience an experience from the moment they walk in to the theatre to the moment they leave. I'm delighted to be able to support such a deserving charity as Lifeworks"

Chief Executive of Lifeworks Richard Hanlon, whose son Finn Hanlon is a member of the Propeller ensemble, said: "Lifeworks relies on the generosity and support from individuals and organisations to help us deliver our projects. With this support from Propeller we can make a real difference to disabled children's lives and their future. A massive thanks to Propeller from us and the children it is going to help."

Lifeworks was set up by a group of parents and teachers 12 years ago. It is a small charity based in Devon but children access our projects and support from all over the UK. Lifeworks provides new opportunities for children with disabilities to lead full active and happy lives. It has a respite and life skills centre to give families a break and residential accommodation when living at home isn't possible anymore, and it runs Further Education courses, Life Skills Training, Youth Clubs, Surfing days as well as offering general support to families. All children have potential, and children with disabilities just need a bit of extra help to do it themselves. Lifeworks is there to give that help. For more information visit www.lifeworks-uk.org.
