Off-Broadway Hit Musical FOREVER DUSTY Comes to The Albany Theatre Image

The beautiful Art Deco gem in the heart of Coventry, The Albany Theatre, hosts a four-night run of the smash-hit musical Forever Dusty in April.

This the high-energy, Off-Broadway hit musical that tells the story of iconic 60s legend, Dusty Springfield - one of the most influential and important female singers in pop history. Featuring a memorable soundtrack, the show addresses all the joy and sadness of Dusty's remarkable life and includes classic hits such as Son of a Preacher Man, The Look of Love and I Only Wanna be with You.

The full-scale musical was written by Kirsten Holly Smith who starred in the original, Off-Broadway hit. She describes her inspiration,

"That soulful, sultry, passionate yet vulnerable voice. I immediately identified with her and knew that I needed to explore the roots of Dusty's voice. I felt like I knew exactly what she was feeling when she sang her songs - songs that defined a generation"

This latest production started on the London Fringe and visits The Albany for a four-night run as the last stop of a nationwide tour. Catherine Ferguson playing the role of Dusty said,

"This has been just an amazing eye-opener into the life of such an iconic star. From the fabulous sixties styling to her political sensibilities, getting to know and perform as Dusty Springfield is such a privilege. We'll be so sorry when this tour comes to an end after Coventry."

The show runs at The Albany from Wednesday 25 - Saturday 28 April with matinee and evening performances. Tickets are from £16.

The Albany has recently undergone some restoration and development; the theatre has a new entrance and box office, new studio, the theatre can be accessed directly from Albany Road where audiences are welcomed into the large, spacious environment of what was once the dilapidated, unused East Wing area of the iconic Coventry building. The recently-refurbished space houses the open-plan box office and work zone with plans for a café and gallery coming soon.
