Singer and comedienne Liza Pulman (one third of Fascinating Aida) was performing her Everything's Coming Up Roses at The Watermark Theatre in Ivy Bridge last night, Thursday 21 September, when the lift to the first floor theatre broke, meaning over a dozen disabled access patrons might not get to attend.

Liza, her musical director Joseph Aitkins and the theatre decided this wasn't good enough and promptly moved the whole show - piano, lighting, sound, everything - downstairs into the Library and performed there instead making sure no one had to miss out!

In Liza's words: "Last night's EVERYTHING'S COMING UP ROSES show with Joe Atkins @ Watermark Theatre Ivybridge was a marvellously Dunkirk affair!

"The broken lift to the first floor theatre threatened there would be no show for over a dozen of our disabled patrons and so rather than have them unable to enjoy (hopefully!) the show we decided, at the last minute, to implement a change of performing space. We moved our entire show lock, stock, PA and piano plus lighting and furniture to the downstairs public library and performed the show in the company of rows and rows of books. It was a cramped but cultured affair and so i renamed the show for the evening, EVERYTHING'S COMING UP ROSE TREMAIN! Love and thanks to the staff and helpers who like a convoy of sherpas moved all the items down the flights of stairs to ensure the show would go on, but particular thanks to the amazing audience who laughed and cried at all the right moments. Would that every audience were filled with the likes of you!"

Making the theatre as accessible as possible is key and with a little bit flexibility and hard work, Liza made sure that stayed key to her performance and no one had to miss out on a fantastic night of songs.

Pulman has recently launched her Double A Side single of You Don't Bring Me Flowers and The Way We Were with The Brighouse & Rastrick Band ahead of her upcoming tour of Liza Pulman Sings Streisand, kicking off at The Exchange, Sturminster on October 6th and including London's Cadogan Hall October 18th.
