Kelvin Fletcher to Appear in Blackpool Operas House's THE WIZARD OF OZ Blackpool Winter Gardens announce that soap star Kelvin Fletcher will be playing the Tin Man, in this year's unforgettable adventure, The Wizard of Oz at Blackpool Opera House from 07 Dec - 30 Dec. He will be joining X-Factor star Holly Tandy playing Dorothy, alongside Radio Wave's Scott Gallagher as the Cowardly Lion.

Kelvin Fletcher started his acting career at the tender age of 10. Joining ITV's Emmerdale in 1996, he became a well-known regular and appeared in the soap for 20 years. Kelvin went on to become a leading character and gained popularity in the show playing the role Andy Sugden. Winning the hearts of the nation, he was regularly involved in some of the show's biggest storylines and thanks to some profound performances, Kelvin was nominated for Best Actor and won Best Dramatic Performance at the British Soap Awards. The Wizard of Oz will be Kelvin's first musical theatre role and he tells us:
'I'm thrilled to be taking on my first musical theatre role in such a fun and well-known classic. I'm going to put my 'heart' if I only had one into playing the iconic role of the Tin Man.'

This highly-acclaimed adaptation from The Royal Shakespeare Company is produced by the award-winning Selladoor Family, (producers of Madagascar The Musical, Peter Pan, Seussical). The Wizard of Oz features a timeless and instantly recognisable score, with classics such as We're Off To See The Wizard, Ding Dong The Witch Is Dead!, If I Only Had A Brain and Over The Rainbow.

When a tornado whisks away a young Kansas farm girl, Dorothy, and her dog, Toto, to the merry old land of Oz, they learn that the only way to get back home is to ask for help from a great and powerful Wizard. Whilst on their quest they stumble across a Scarecrow - who is need of a brain, a Tin Man - who so desperately wants a heart, and a Lion - who could really do with some courage. Together they begin a magical journey as they head off to see the Wizard, the wonderful Wizard of Oz.

The Wizard of Oz is Directed by Cressida Carré with Musical Supervision by Mark Crossland. Set Design by Steve Howell, Costume Design by Sarah Mercade, Choreography Matt Cole and Lighting Design by Jack Weir.
