Following appearances at this year's Edinburgh Festival Fringe that saw him play to packed houses and win a coveted award, internationally celebrated star of theatre and cabaret Le Gateau Chocolat is set to make a dazzling appearance in Cardiff this Christmas.

Investigating his own objects of worship through the songs and music of his personal icons and walking the tightrope between his public and private personas, Le Gateau Chocolat explores our relationship with icons from Kate Bush to Bjork, from Madonna to Meatloaf - the people, the moments, the books and the relationships that have come to shape us.

With his electrifying signature spin on an eclectic set list, in Icons, Le Gateau explores his experiences as a cabaret artist and drag performer, and how he balances it with his own personal identity. Icons is a celebration of the pop culture figures which have inspired him since childhood and transformed him into a renowned cabaret star.

First introduced to audiences in Cardiff earlier this year when he performed alongside Charlotte Church in the Festival of the Voice, Le Gateau Chocolat won the Total Theatre Award for Significant Contribution at this year's Edinburgh Fringe Festival, where he also performed where he also performed family show Duckie, a reimagining of childhood favourite The Ugly Duckling. Duckie will be performed at the Wales Millennium Centre alongside Icons from 20 - 31 December 2018, as part of the Performances for the Curious season.

Speaking about Icons, Le Gateau Chocolat "Icons is a celebration of the universality I've found in great music, art and life moments. It's punctuated my life differently to others but is, by no means, less impactful. The music in my life has been from Madonna, Elvis, Whitney, Grease, Kate Bush, Bjork. And that music has connected with so many moments in life; from falling in love to forming new friendships, from running marathons to being present at children's births and through the election of various presidents."

Voted by Time Out London as one of its Top 10 Cabaret Stars, Le Gateau Chocolat is a one-man musical phenomenon renowned for his drag shows, his contemporary opera performance and his baritone. He began working as a solo artist in 2011 with a self-titled show that toured the UK, Poland and Australia (including the Sydney Opera House) for three years. His work has been nominated for the 2011 Helpmann Awards (Best Cabaret Performer), 2013 Perth Fringe World Cabaret Award and Best Cabaret 2016 & 2018 at Adelaide Fringe. He's toured the globe with Olivier award-winning La Clique and La Soirée, has performed with Glyndebourne Opera, appeared in The Threepenny Opera at the National Theatre, on The Paul O'Grady Show, sung for the Queen as part of the Jubilee Flotilla, and with Basement Jaxx at the Barbican. Recent stage credits include Feste in Emma Rice's Twelfth Night at the Globe (2017) and Gate Theatre and English National Opera's Effigies of Wickedness (2018).
