British Comedy Luminary Sam Bain Hosts Screening of Withnail and I

Sam Bain, co-creator of Channel 4's Peep Show and co-writer of Chris Morris' 'Four Lions' introduce a rare screening of one of Britain's most celebrated cult comedy classics 'Withnail and I' as part of the Time Out Film Club.

Held at Cineworld Haymarket in London on May 3rd, Time Out Film Club's exclusive screenings will give the public a rare chance to hear Sam Bain introduce 'Withnail and I' and enjoy the movie with other fans of this cult classic.
Recently chosen by 150 film industry experts, Time Out's 100 Best British Films is being celebrated through a season of 10 exclusive screenings. These rare cinema experiences are open to the public with tickets costing just £8, less than the price as a regular West End cinema ticket. Each screening features special introductions from leading members of the British cinema world, such as Jonathan Pryce, Sally Hawkins and David Morrissey.

Tim Arthur, Director of Time Out Live, comments: "Comedy always works best with a crowd, so this Time Out screening of the film that placed at number 15 on our list of the Best British Films gives our audience a rare chance to enjoy this film with other fans". Though we fear the Cineworld staff may look poorly on anyone hoping to indulge in the infamous 'Withnail' drinking game - a game which consists of keeping up, drink for drink, with each alcoholic substance consumed by Withnail over the course of the film (and is not recommended).

Last month, a panel of film experts including Sam Mendes (Director of American Beauty) and Wes Anderson (Director of Fantastic Mr Fox) selected 'Withnail and I' as one of Time Out's 100 Best British Films. Sam Bain, who will host this screening, placed the movie as his favourite British film.

Set in London at the close of the '60s, the film sports performances from Richard E Grant and Paul McGann as two 'resting' actors who live in a squalid flat in Camden and attempt a holiday in the country to recuperate from London's desperately hedonistic bohemian life. Since it was released in 1987, it has risen to become of Britain's biggest cult films.

Tickets for this very special screening are on sale now, with a limited number of seats still available at timeout.com/filmclub.
