Brewhouse Theatre & Arts Centre Stages MERLIN'S APPRENTICE This Holiday Season
The Brewhouse Theatre & Arts Centre is delighted to announce 2015's thrilling new family show for the Christmas season!
'Merlin's Apprentice' is a world premiere for Taunton, telling of young Arthur's rise from homeless orphan to King of all England under the guidance of the legendary magician, Merlin! But taking the throne is more difficult than taking the sword from the stone, for Arthur must face a powerful enemy: Morgana...
Taunton's premier professional theatre treat, offers fun for all the family this Christmas - with songs, dance, battles, demons and even dragons! The show is presented by Kickline, the South West-based theatre company which has presented Exeter's professional Christmas pantomime for the past six years.
Kickline is working closely with the theatre, which sadly closed directly after the last Christmas production. As a consequence The Brewhouse has been without a festive centrepiece since 2013. 'Merlin's Apprentice' promises to bring back the fantastic Brewhouse tradition of presenting high quality family shows which offer ideal entertainment for the Christmas period. With 41 performances this is going to be a major event in Taunton's theatre calendar!
Director, Ian Trafford, says, "We are so excited to bring this amazing new show to Somerset, a place that is so closely connected with the legend of King Arthur. 'Merlin's Apprentice' is a fabulous new production, quite unlike anything the Brewhouse has seen before: the setting is immersive so you really feel as if you are entering the medieval world as you enter the auditorium. With live music and some amazing puppets adding to the story-telling, the evening is full of magic!"
Composer, Ian Crew, adds, "'Merlin's Apprentice' really explores the nature of good versus evil as well as creating a fun battle of boy versus girl!"
The Box Office for Merlin's Apprentice will open Thursday 23rd April at 9am. The theatre are offering early bird deals which run until the 30th June -- these are sure to fly off the shelves so get in quick.
