The Toronto Sketch Comedy Festival presents the fifth annual Sketch Com-Ageddon, a five-night sketch comedy competition where 47 new and established troupes fight it out to the death, at Comedy Bar, June 12-16, 2012.

After nine whirlwind rounds of funny, the Sketch Com-Ageddon winner will receive a guaranteed spot in November’s Eighth Annual Toronto Sketch Comedy Festival (TOSketchFest) and a cash prize.

Several award-winning troupes will compete for the championship title including 2011 Tim Sims Encouragement Award winner British Teeth, 2008 and 2011 Steam Whistle Brewing Producers’ Pick Award-winners Jape and Vest of Friends, and the 2010 Sketch Com-Ageddonchamps Smells Like the 80s.

The 47 Sketch troupes are: Bath Water, Bitches Leave!, Brain Drops, British Teeth, Cash Grab, Cheap Smokes, Daddy’s Precious Children, Dyaunakiss, Die Hardest, Dick Wolves, Fancy Sluts, Fratwurst, Fun Car, Getting Even With Chesapeake, Good Game, Jape, Kiss the Dog, Ladies of The Sketchersons, The Local Drysdales, McGyver & McGyvhim, Naked Friday Players, Ned & Dave, Parker and Seville, Pink Slip, Plum Thunder, PRIMO, The Regulars, Rulers of the Universe, Shoeless, The Short Form Richards, Sketch and The City, The Sketchy Comedians, Smells Like the 80s, The Supercult, Two Crazy Bitches, Two Weird Ladies, Touch My Stereotype, Tough Crowd, Tuques of Hazard, The Ugly Stiks, Vest of Friends, Warm Summer Hotness, Well Readed, The Whiskey Dicks, W.P. Sketch & Sons, The Young Geologists and You Monster.

Over five-nights of absurdity, competing troupes have mere minutes to prove to the SketchFest Panel and audience voters that they deserve the Sketch Com-Ageddon title. Throughout nine rounds, 47 troupes will be blasted down to four in a comedy relay to the finals. In the Preliminary Rounds troupes have five minutes to impress; during the Semi-Finals troupes have ten minutes to triumph. The final four troupes have only fifteen minutes to win over audience voters to become the Sketch Com-Ageddon Champions!
