Stratford Actors and Crew Raise $11,181 for the Actors' Fund of Canada

By: Dec. 20, 2011

Not content with regular benefits, actors and crew came up with some unconventional ways of raising money for the Fund.

Katrina Reynolds organized a cabaret at the local pub, with admission going directly to the Fund.  Together with donations $1,012 was raised.  Helen Basson organized 50/50 draws backstage at the theatres which added another $616 to the total.  By far the largest fundraiser was the series of audience collections.  Spearheaded by Actors' Fund Board member Seana McKenna, they brought in a total of $9,553.  That brought the Fundraising to a staggering $11,181.

All of this was on top of the Stratford Shakespeare Festival's annual benefit that saw $9,058 of ticket sales from a performance of Moliere's "The Misanthrope" donated to the Fund.

You can read more about the benefits here.
