TYRANNO - A NEW MUSICAL Comes to Erskineville Town Hall
![]()
Has art been politicised? Is the Western Canon still valid? Do ideologies make people vile? Tyranno explores these questions and the clashing perspectives of modern society.
Controversial internet personality Tyranno Frei has been invited to talk at a university. As the commencement of his lecture looms, crowds of students begin protesting outside the auditorium. One of his old professors, Professor Dio, is worried that the crowd may start a riot. Will the mob be satisfied if Gratia, the students' fiery representative, is allowed to debate Tyranno? Tyranno is a music-drama about the Western Canon, Art, Free Speech, offensive language and power.
Denver Naude stars as the eponymous antihero, with Myles Burgin as Professor Dio, and Bec Power as Gratia. Richard Holborn and Rhiarn Zarzhavsky play Tyranno's mischievous sidekicks. Zoe Crawford, Ella Arendelle, Ricci Crane and Samuel Feitelberg play the professors and students.
Dark, topical, Wagnerian, humorous and brutal, Tyranno was written, produced and directed by Ludwig van Distortion and Coco Grainger (Distortion Forever).
Showing at Erskineville Town Hall at 7:30pm on August 3rd, 4th, 8th, 10th 11th, 15th, 17th & 18th. Tickets can be purchased through Ticketebo.com.au/Tyranno. Follow Distortion Forever on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/distortionforever
