The Theatre Guild's 2013 season begins with a staged play reading of The finest Jacobean tragedy written by a contemporary of William Shakespeare.

First performed in London in 1622, it has resonated with audiences throughout the centuries and has received many highly acclaimed productions, most recently at the Young Vic in London in 2012.

The Changeling is a dark story of lust, murder and adultery, of chaste and not so chaste women who deceive their parents, their suitors and their husbands in order to indulge their desires.

Director Alexander Kirk said "I am thrilled to be returning to The Theatre Guild following the success of Faust Part One last year. I chose The Changeling this year because it is such an extraordinary play of shifting emotions, from the fruitless and misguided follies in the madhouse, to the violent sexual energy of love produced from hate-at-first- sight in the castle".

The Changeling company comprises some of the Guild's most experienced actors working alongside young students from across the University and the Elder Conservatorium of Music, as well as members of the State Opera Chorus and dancers led by leading Adelaide dancer and choreographer Erin Fowler.

Cast: Laura Antoniazzi, Emily Burns, Karen Burns, Peter Davies, Geoff Dawes, Phil Grummet, Sarah Jamieson, Les Koopowitz, Simon Lancione, Philip Lineton, Emily McMahon, Kathryn Palasis, Sam Rogers, April Slomiany, Sean Watters and Camilla Wolfe-Barry.
