Spanish Violinist Daniel Pinteño To Replace Stefano Montanari In Sept Image

Paul Dyer, Artistic Director of the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra, has announced the Australian debut of rising star Spanish baroque violinist Daniel Pinteño in September 2018 and a new program due to the withdrawal of Stefano Montanari. Stefano has cancelled his appearances in Australia for personal reasons.

"I'm absolutely thrilled that we will have the opportunity to work with Spain's Daniel Pinteño who is an outstandingly bright star in the next generation of international baroque violinists," says Paul.

"We've created a brand new concert called Mediterránea which will offer Australian audiences a glimpse into the majesty and passion of the imperial Spanish court of the 17th and 18th centuries."

Daniel and his team of fellow musicologists have unearthed and prepared several extremely rare Spanish works by Basset, Facco and Lopez which provide the rare opportunity for the Brandenburg to introduce the music in two Australian premieres and one world premiere.

Mediterránea revolves around the Spanish imperial court in Madrid, and the various court composers and musicians that passed through the court, including Vivaldi.

Daniel has studied extensively in Spain and Germany, including baroque violin under former Brandenburg guest director and soloist, Professor Hiro Kurosaki. He is the leader of the ensemble Concerto 1700, which he founded in 2015.

DANIEL SAYS: "This concert programme shows the richness of music in the Iberian Peninsula during the 18th century. Among the composers present in this concert we can find Spanish musicians such as Vicente Basset (fl. 1748-1762) and Félix Máximo López (1742 -1821) as well as Italians adopted by the Spanish court such as Cayetano Brunetti (1744 -1798) and Jaime Facco (1676 - 1753). The works of this concert show the evolution of Spanish instrumental music during the century as well as the approach to the Italian style of the Spanish nobility and monarchy."
