Nexas Sax Quartet With Harpist Emily Granger Present AN AMERICAN IN PARIS The Nexas Quartet and Emily Granger (Harp) evoke a journey back in time to the bustling streets of the French capital in "An American in Paris" - the latest tasty concert in the Independent Theatre's popular Prelude in Tea series - which always includes afternoon tea with refreshments and a mouth-watering array of cakes and fruits! This unique collaboration will provide fascinating new renditions of works by Gershwin, Brubeck, Ravel and Franck.

At the forefront of chamber music, Nexas Quartet is focused on promoting the musical diversity of the saxophone by showcasing its versatility and ability to cross genres. Formed in 2002, Nexas comprises Michael Duke (soprano sax), Andrew Smith (alto sax),
Nathan Henshaw (tenor sax) and Jay Byrnes (baritone sax).

The group's success comes from a combination of personalities, virtuosic saxophone skills and an ability to program concerts with wide appeal. Their sell-out annual concert series have featured collaborations with some of Australia's finest musicians including pianists Gerard Willems AM) and Daniel Rojas, jazz vocalist Nicky Crayson, jazz saxophonists and bandleader David Theak and SSO clarinettist Frank Celata.

In 2017 Nexas embarked on a new collaboration with opera star Peter Colman-Wright
resulting in their Weimar-Era themed ABC Classic release Ballads of the Good Life (four and a half stars from Limelight Magazine).

Other 2017 Highlights included appearances at the Australian Festival of Chamber Music (Townsville), Adelaide Cabaret Festival and performing Warren Barker's Capriccio for Sax Quartet and Wind Band at the Melbourne Recital Centre and Art not Apart (Canberra).

Emily Granger (Kansas City, USA) has performed as Principal Harp with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, Opera Australia Symphony Orchestra and Orchestra Victoria.

As a chamber musician, Emily is the founding member of the Chicago Harp Quartet and has performed recitals at Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Center and the Sydney Opera House. More at www.nexasquartet.com and www.emilygranger.com
