Miranda Musical Society Presents YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN

By:

Miranda Musical Society decided it was time to bring a show to their audiences that puts the word "comedy" firmly into "musical comedy"

The comedic genius Mel Brooks adapted his legendarily funny film into this hilariously brilliant stage musical called 'Young Frankenstein'.

Miranda resident Cheryl O'Brien plays the ominous Frau Blutcher who has faithfully served the Frankenstein family all her life, and reveals an hilarious secret in the second act. "I was beyond excited to be cast in this role" Cheryl said. " it's so much fun playing such a creepy part!"

This is the second time Sutherland's Johnny Acosta has played the monster Igor. Johnny said " in all my years on stage this is the only role I have ever wanted to do more than once. I get to have so much fun playing him, and the directors have trusted me enough to give me the freedom to really experiment with him."

Jess Farrell from Menai plays the hilariously sexy Inga, an innocent who is completely unaware of the effect she has on the male inhabitants of Transylvania. "This show is absolutely hilarious" Jess said. "I can more or less guarantee that everyone is going to love this, it's so hard not to constantly crack up during rehearsals, this is such a brilliant cast!"

The story in a nutshell:

Grandson of the infamous Victor Frankenstein, Frederick Frankenstein (pronounced "Fronk-en-steen") inherits his family's estate in Transylvania.

With the help of a hunchbacked side-kick, Igor (pronounced "Eye-gore"), and a leggy lab assistant, Inga Frederick finds himself in the mad scientist shoes of his ancestors.

"It's alive!" he exclaims as he brings to life a creature to rival his grandfather's.

Eventually, the monster escapes and hilarity continuously abounds.

Every bit as relevant to audience members who will remember the original movie as it will be to newcomers, Young Frankenstein has all the panache of the screen sensation with a little extra theatrical flair added.

Memorable tunes include "The Transylvania Mania," "He Vas My Boyfriend" and "Puttin' On The Ritz"

Miranda Musical Society is hoping this production of Mel Brooks 'Young Frankenstein' will give their audiences some great belly laughs, along with great songs and fabulous dance routines.
