LOVE AND DEATH AND AN AMERICAN GUITAR to Return with Toby Francis, Aug 24

Due to an overwhelming response following a hugely successful run as part of The Hayes Theatre Co Inaugural Cabaret Season, Love and Death and an American Guitar makes a return to the Hayes Theatre Co stage for 3 nights only, starting on Sunday, 24 August.

Set just a few years after the release of iconic rock album Bat Out of Hell, Love and Death and an American Guitar lifts the curtain on the genius responsible for the album's success, composer Jim Steinman.

Written and performed by award-winning cabaret artist Toby Francis Blokelahoma!, Truth, Beauty and a Picture of You with Musical Direction by the incomparable Helpmann Award Nominated Andrew Worboys Sweet Charity, Florence and the Machine, Love and Death and an American Guitar sees Steinman return to the writing desk in an effort to complete his stage adaptation of Peter Pan - a rock opera entitled Neverland.

Taking place against the backdrop of Steinman's struggle with a lack of public and professional recognition, unpaid royalties, and lost friendships -- and boasting a collection of some of the biggest rock songs of all time -- Love and Death and an American Guitar is an epic yet intimate glimpse into the life of one of music's greatest treasures that is not to be missed.

Hayes Theatre Co is a dedicated music theatre and cabaret venue in Potts Point that was formerly the home of the Darlinghurst Theatre Company. Named for Australian musical theatre legend, Nancye Hayes OAM, Hayes Theatre Co honours and builds on the vast history of Australian Musical Theatre and its practitioners. This not-for-profit venue is managedby Independent Music Theatre, a collaborative partnership focusing on providing a permanent home for small-scale musical theatre and cabaret. By providing venue space to newly mounted productions, Hayes Theatre Co, will be a presenting partner together with independent producers and artists. Hayes Theatre Co is made possible through the City of Sydney's Accommodation Grant Program.

Love and Death and an American Guitar will play the Hayes Theatre Co (19 Greenknowe Ave Potts Point) on Sunday, 24 August, Sunday 31 August and Sunday 7 September. All performances are at 8pm.
