Take a stroll to 1930's Manhattan. The music of Harold Arlen drifts reigns supreme. From Stormy Weather to Somewhere Over the Rainbow, this is a show about a man who wrote the hits and remained an enigma.

Harold Arlen wrote over 400 songs from 1926 - 1974. His music was made famous by Peggy Lee, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, and the iconic Judy Garland. Vocal powerhouse Johanna Allen showcases a catalogue of his most well known music: The Man that got Away, Blues in the Night, Get Happy, One for my baby, The Old Black Magic, Down With Love, Paper Moon, Somewhere Over the Rainbow, and entwines stories from the women who loved him and the words of his other great musical work 'The Wizard of Oz'.

Allen is joined by Michael Tyack (piano) as Musical Director with Jamie Castrisos (Drums) and Trent Prees (Bass). This Rhythm section is hot, the Blues are Sassy and the songs will take you to a place where 'troubles melt like lemon drops'...

This is a show about survivors - who sang music from their soul and left their mark on the world. The Wizard said 'Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.' but Harold Arlen's music music lives on. Despite the enigma of the composer, these are THE SONGS THAT GOT AWAY....

Featuring: Writer/performer Johanna Allen, with concept by Johanna Allen and Stuart Maunder, starring Johanna Allen, directed by Stuart Maunder, with musical director Michael Tyack.
