Have you ever been caught in a cycle that felt like one triviality after another? Ever thought there's got to be more to life than this? Charlie has! Fledgling Theatre Co's latest production to hit Sydney's independent theatre circuit - Modern Jesus.

Charlie works at a local supermarket. She is entirely dissatisfied with her life to date. In a moment of pure
frustration she assaults a charity collector who happens to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. This moment of liberation leads to Charlie losing her job, but also ignites her desire for change and rebellion. Modern Jesus is a play about the line between idealism and extremism and how easy it is for the two to blur.

This is Fledgling Theatre Company's second Australian offering following last year's wildly successful double feature 'Rats'. This gritty urban tale is a mix of "Fight Club and a philosophy lecture squished on stage" says director Chris Huntly-Turner. Hot on the heels of their UK tour, Fledgling Theatre Company are an exciting fresh company producing new writing in Australia and the U.K.

"Modern Jesus" runs from 23 Aug - 2 Sept at Marrickville's The Depot Theatre [8pm Wed-Sat, 5pm Sun]. Get your tickets before they sell out - click here.
