Join Australia's leading choral performance company in Sydney June 9 to 10, 2018, for this life-changing weekend of singing and music making!

Now in its 13th year, this internationally renowned annual program, founded by Sydney Philharmonia Choirs Music Director, Brett Weymark, provides a unique opportunity for everyday music lovers to come together and experience the joy of singing on a grand scale.

A success from the get go, ChorusOz has attracted hundreds of participants each year since 2005, travelling from around Australia and across the planet, with varying levels of singing experience - from absolute beginners, to semi-professionals after a fun weekend of musicianship and song.

Each year Weymark chooses a well know choral work for the ChorusOz program, and in 2018, he has selected one of the great masterpieces of 18th Century music, Handel's Saul.

A powerful exploration of love, loyalty and power, Weymark says this is "music of rare beauty and intensity, with an elaborate score and dramatic and theatrical story line, which put together will make this a fabulous sing for everyone taking part".

A much-anticipated event, loved by Sydney concert-goers, ChorusOz concerts are renowned for bringing the power of a large chorus together with some of Australia's leading soloists, backed by a professional orchestra, conducted by one of the country's foremost concert masters, on the world-famous Sydney Opera House Concert Hall stage.

ChorusOz 2018 participants will be in particularly good company, sharing the stage with sopranos Lorina Gore and Penelope Mills, counter-tenor Nicholas Tolputt, tenor Brad Cooper, bass Simon Lobelson, and players from the Sydney Philharmonia Orchestra, led by conductor, Brett Weymark.

A free pre-concert talk for ticketholders will be held 45 minutes prior to the performance, presented in association with Fine Music FM.

Join one of Australia's leading choral musicians, conductors and chorus masters, Sarah Penicka-Smith, at a special Discover workshop, exploring Handel's Saul.

This informal two-hour session includes an opportunity to explore the history behind the work, find out what inspired the composer and have some fun attempting to singing excerpts from the score. 10am to 12pm, Saturday April 28 at Sydney Philharmonia Choirs' Rehearsal Rooms, Pier 4, Hickson Road, Millers Point.
