Australian Star-Studded Cast to Lead Orchestral Swing Performance With the Sydney Symphony Orchestra

Australia's leading screen and stage actors will perform Swing on This, a modern
take on swing classics, with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra (SSO) at the Sydney Opera House on 9-10 March, 2018.

Michael Falzon (We Will Rock You, Rock of Ages), Luke Kennedy (The Voice, The Ten Tenors), Rob Mills (Wicked, GHOST the Musical) and Ben Mingay (Wonderland, Packed to the Rafters) will perform swing classics from Sinatra to Bublé, as well as interpretations of hits by John Farnham, INXS and The Proclaimers.

Originally performed as a one-night only special event at the 2014 Adelaide Cabaret Festival, Swing on This was received with such enthusiasm that the "Aussie Rat Pack" has been taken to multiple locations across Australia.

Kennedy says the concerts with the SSO will offer a different dynamic: "Performing with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra will be a showcase of Swing on This in its most deluxe form - slick, sophisticated and hugely fun for the audience and for everyone on stage."

For Mills, the iconic stage will be a return to where it all began for him as a finalist on reality television show, Australian Idol, in 2003."I'm looking forward to coming back to where it all took off for me," says Mills. "This time, it will be as one of four of Australia's most handsome leading men swinging it up with the SSO... and we've got a bar on stage!"

From much-loved shows on the small screen to playing Sydney Opera House, Mingay is excited to perform with the SSO, noting that "Accompanied by such a fantastic orchestra, this show is going to blow the roof off the House!"

Falzon, the show's creator and musical theatre star, is thrilled to return to what he considers his favourite stage in the world. "Ben, Luke, Rob and I are set to have a ball with the classics while pushing a hit tune or two through our patent-pending 'swing filter'!" says Falzon.

Swing on This performed at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre earlier this year and most recently with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra in June. The performance with the SSO next year in March will be the second orchestral concert that the ensemble will undertake.
