Michel Godard ist ein Musiker, der so gut wie keine Schranken kennt, sowohl technisch auf Tuba und Serpent als auch stilistisch. Für den Franzosen schliessen sich Alte Musik und Jazz nicht aus, im Gegenteil teilen die Musik des 16. und frühen 17. Jahrhunderts und Jazz viele Ähnlichkeiten. Für Le chant du Serpent mit Musik des französischen Barock hat sich Michel Godard deshalb mit Spezialisten aus beiden Welten zusammengetan: einem Ensemble aus Countertenor, Viola da gamba und Laute und der bekannten französischen Jazztrompeterin Airelle Besson.
