All of our students gain practical professional experience by working on film sets, participating in main-stage productions, and interacting closely with faculty advisors and mentors. Through teaching and production work, our department prepares students to succeed professionally in the Film and Theatre industries, while educating students across disciplines in the fundamental skills of collaboration, communication, and creativity. The UAF Department of Theatre and Film provides an undergraduate BA degree in Film & Performing Arts with concentrations in Film or Theatre. We also offer minors in both Theatre and Film. Film & Performing Arts majors take a shared core of three classes (Fundamentals of Acting, Film Set Production I, and Introduction to Production Design) and then choose a concentration in either Film or Theatre. All of our courses can be found under the “FLPA” designator in course finder and in the 2020-21 catalog.

Yamaha Artist Services presents the brilliant pianist Alexander Kobrin-most noted for his win at the Van Cliburn Piano Competition in 2005-in his recital debut at Zankel Hall at Carnegie Hall (881 7th Ave, New York, NY 10019), Thursday evening, December 19, 2019, at 7:30 pm. The program will feature piano sonatas by Beethoven and Brahms, as well as Schumann's Waldszenen.

The Morris Choral Society is pleased to announce that soprano Christina Major will perform as featured soloist in its upcoming Spring Concert "Greatest Hits from Opera and Broadway" in two performances Saturday May 18 at 8:00pm and Sunday May 19 at 3:00pm at the historic United Methodist Church on the Green in Morristown, New Jersey. 3D Art Installation To Be Installed On U-M's Diag During Commencement Weekend

University of Michigan graduates, students and commencement visitors will have a chance to take a photo atop a 'Michigan' waterfall this weekend. The painting, which will cover 16'x36' ft. of ground space on the north side of the Diag, will be installed May 3-4 (8 a.m.-8 p.m. both days). The massive 3D artwork will be created by local husband and wife artist team Dave and Shelley Brenner, who are known for their colorful, large-scale sidewalk illusions that have been featured at various national and international street painting festivals in recent years.
