The Department of Music at Texas Woman’s University will develop your appreciation and understanding of the arts. Winners Announced For the Philadelphia Youth Orchestra's National Young Composers Competition

For the third year, The Philadelphia Youth Orchestra (PYO) conducted a nationwide search to name the three winners in the PYO Young Composers Competition. All participants submitted original orchestral scores. The winners were selected by PYO's music director, Maestro Louis Scaglione, and the director of the Young Composers Competition, Sheridan Seyfried, who is a Philadelphia-based composer, a PYO alumnus and a graduate of The Curtis Institute of Music where he studied with Richard Danielpour, Jennifer Higdon and Ned Rorem.

Dance Iquail Brings BLACK SWAN Back To Philadelphia In February

Hometown choreographer Iquail Shaheed brings his company back and returns to an iconic piece about the black ballerina. Dance Iquail presents Black Swan, a 90-minute dance-based production choreographed to the music of artist and activist Nina Simone. Black Swan runs February 22-23 at the Performance Garage, 1515 Brandywine Street. Dance Center Hires Ellen Chenoweth As Permanent DPS Director

The Dance Center of Columbia College Chicago announces the appointment of Ellen Chenoweth as the permanent Director of its Dance Presenting Series (DPS) and a new faculty member of the Department of Dance, effective July 1, 2018. Chenoweth has been serving as Interim Director of the DPS since September 11, 2017.

National Association for Music Education Names Mackie V. Spradley the 2018-2020 National President-Elect

On February 8, 2018, the National Association for Music Education (NAfME) announced the 2018-2020 National President-Elect chosen by NAfME Members. Dr. Mackie V. Spradley, Immediate Past President of the NAfME Texas chapter, is the Director of Enrichment Education for the Texas Education Agency who provides statewide leadership over all enrichment subjects. Concurrently, Mackie teaches graduate-level courses in the Educational Leadership Online Master's Program as an adjunct professor in the Department of Teacher Education and Administration, College of Education, University of North Texas.
